Halfway Through April

Hey friends, fans, and newcomers

April has been a wild month for growth for us.  I've spent a lot of time so far this month developing our online presence and touching up on a few things.

Last week I shared the news on Patreon that we now have a standalone program, which is great because it allows the game to reach a much wider audience.  Check out the last post if you haven't already.

The last two weeks I've been working a lot on the brand new website.  Huge shout-out to Swordhill, on of our Patrons for helping me get the forums set up and organized, and for helping me with a lot of ideas for fleshing out the lore a bit more.  We spent a few hours last weekend discussing backstory and ideas for how to tie that into the game.  I don't want to go into detail on that quite yet, so while you wait anxiously to hear about it, head over to the forums and sign up and join in the conversations there.

I also want to thank another on of our Patrons, Jed.  He's helped get a new wiki set up for Hazordhu, which will be a great place to store information about the hundreds of things that players can craft, all of the different locations and things to do in the game, as well as a perfect place to really nail down some of the games back story and lore, especially useful for newcomers and veterans alike for ideas and reference material for their own characters.

On the development side of things I've been reworking how forges, ovens, ranges and campfires behave.  In the next update there will be another 20 or so items to craft that will be specifically for use in the new "cooker" objects.  They have a new interface (see pictures) to them as well, which is much more intuitive and easier to understand than the system that's currently live on the server.

Aside from that, I've been hot on the trail of a few nasty bugs, and worked out a few small optimizations.  Every little bit really does help, especially in a game that has such a wide scope as Hazordhu already does.  On the note of bugs, we will now be moving away from the now defunct system of reporting bugs on byond and transition into a new bug tracker on the website.

I'm very excited for the next update, because it's all about quality.   There are a bunch of bug fixes and loose-ends with the interface that have been tied up, and some more items have been added.  I don't have a definite date for the next update, but it won't be too long now!

I hope you're all staying safe and maintaining your social distancing.  We're all in this together, and lets not forget that.

Again, thank you to those of you that already support the game.  If you want exclusive behind the scenes access to my development process as well as early access to the newest features before they get released, become a patron, and help keep Hazordhu alive and growing.  Your contributions help to make sure I'm able to keep working on Hazordhu both now, and long into the future.  Together, we can keep Hazordhu Free for Everyone, Forever.

Thank you for reading, and Happy Roleplaying!
